VOCALS: NELLY

Nelly drew inspiration from legendary artists such as Kate Bush, Siouxsie, Elizabeth Fraser, David Bowie, Tears for Fears, Japan, Bel Canto, Sinéad O’Connor, Blondie, and Depeche Mode, among many others.

Her love for music spans across genres: blues, soul, pop, punk, ska, funk, hard rock, jazz, classical, post‑punk, indie rock, and new wave. This wide range of influences shaped her into a versatile Rotterdam artist with a distinctive sound.

As a child, she dreamed of singing with the soaring range of Olivia Newton‑John and Kate Bush, while also reaching the deep, powerful tones of Siouxsie. More than anything, Nelly wanted to develop her own unique voice—a sound that didn’t imitate anyone else but carried her personal identity.

For Nelly, emotion is the soul of every song; without it, music loses its heart. She has always aimed to sing differently in each track, bringing a unique feeling and interpretation to every performance. Her voice carries authenticity, depth, and individuality—qualities that define her as both a singer and songwriter.

Currently, Nelly is writing new music and immersing herself in learning blues piano, expanding her artistry and continuing her journey of creative exploration.

GUITAR: PITYU

Pityu’s musical journey began in the late 1970s, when he first picked up an acoustic guitar. He played songs by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Beatles, and other iconic artists, developing a strong foundation in melody and storytelling.

By the mid‑1980s, Pityu switched to electric guitar, performing in cover bands and expanding his repertoire across genres. His versatility and dedication to craft made him a natural fit when he later joined Rejection Ratio in 1994.

Although left‑handed, Pityu plays on a right‑handed guitar, a distinctive approach that adds character to his sound. His style blends precision with raw emotion, complementing Nelly’s vocals, Ruud’s bass lines, and Ton’s drums.

Today, Pityu continues to make music, playing and singing in an acoustically oriented band, while carrying forward his passion for diverse musical styles. His ability to adapt across genres—from acoustic folk to indie rock and post‑punk—marks him as a unique artist.

BASS: RUUD

Ruud’s musical influences span new wave, post‑punk, and funk, shaping his distinctive style as a bassist and songwriter. His inspirations include iconic artists such as Bootsy’s Rubber Band, Cameo, The Cure, David Bowie, Devo, Fad Gadget, The Gap Band, Gary Numan, Joy Division, Killing Joke, King Crimson, Larry Graham and Graham Central Station, Parliament Funkadelic, Prince, Public Image Limited, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Stranglers—and many more pioneers of alternative and funk music.

Building on these influences, Ruud creates music under his own artist name, Doomsday Afternoon Post. His project blends new wave, post‑punk, and funk while weaving in references to comics and apocalyptic science fiction, giving his work a unique identity that bridges music and storytelling.
